                Property Tax Mill Rate Set to Decrease for
                             for 2024 Bernalillo County

The mill rate in Bernalillo County, the number used in conjunction with the assessed value of a property, has been reduced for 2024. Generally, that means a drop in property taxes due by the property owner.

“The Assessor’s Office staff has been working diligently to make sure that every property is assessed fairly and equitably,” says Assessor Damian Lara. “When the assessments are accurate, everyone shares in the tax burden equally and this year that means a small decrease.”

For the 2024 tax year, the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) has affirmed the mill rate. The entity tax rate – which covers the majority of Albuquerque residents – for a residential taxpayer is $1608.67 per $100,000 of assessed value and $1838.03 per $100,000 of assessed value for a non-residential taxpayer.

Mill rates throughout Bernalillo County vary based on the taxing entities associated with the location of a property. For example, some property owners also pay taxes to the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District or the Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority. The changes will be reflected on tax bills sent out in November of 2024.                                                     ___________________________________________________________
